ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: To easily and surely prevent unauthorized copying from being generated, by providing a
copy limiting information part in the access prohibited area of a recording medium, and providing a
read/write prohibiting and cancelating means from the recording medium on a copying means, etc.

CONSTITUTION: The gate part 40 of a read/write means 4 is controlled by the control part 30 of the
copying means 3 via a gate control means 7, and the prohibition of the read/woite of the device 4 is
released. And the copy limiting information of the access prohibited area in the recording medium
12a is read by a processing part 31, and the presence/absence of the vmte on the medium 12a is
decided, and the written content of the medium 12a is read out by the means 4 when information is
written on the medium, and the number of times of permitted copying is not zero, and the copying is
performed on a copying recording medium 12b through the means 3 and the read/write means 5, etc.,
then, one is subtracted from the number of times of permitted copying of the medium 12a. In such
way, the number of times of copying is limited, an the copying from a duplicate medium is
prohibited, and also, the rewrite of the copy limiting information is prohibited, thereby, it is possible
to easily and surely prevent the unauthorized copying from being generated.
